Kyoto 15 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 5
Kyoto is an amazing place!
It was the capital of Japan until 130 years ago and is full of incredible temples, shrines and stuff.
I like the atmosphere in Kyoto too, for a pretty big city it doesn't feel so full on as the others.
Maybe it is because it is surrounded by the mountains and the lake.
Ryoanji temple is amazing and so is Enrakuji up on Mt Hiei.
Springtime the Cherry Blossoms are amazing in Kyoto and in Fall the colors are breathtaking.. reds, oranges, golds and yellows.
(Does get a bit busy in Fall, though!)
I think if someone had to choose just one city in Japan to visit, Kyoto would be a great choice!

Yeah, love Kyoto!
Love bush walking through the mountains around Kyoto in the fall.
Great gardens in Kyoto too.

Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto has that amazing stone garden that you always see on postcards!
Very cool!

I'll be basing myself out of Tokyo but i've found a company that does a "day trip" to Kyoto via the Shinkansen.

It's kinda pricey. Is it going to be worth it for just a flying visit, or should I hold off going and plan a good few days on my next trip?

Kyoto sure deserves a few days!
One day coming and leaving would just leave you wanting more!
