Either way.. one to three years.. likely one year at first..
Of course you would need to show you had at least 1 million yen available to you for each year of the visa..

The UFC would be the biggest company and promoter of MMA fighters in the world and based in the US, next to them would be the Pride Fighting Championships which is actually based in Japan (now owned by UFC after they bought it). The Visa would fall under 'Entertainer' as sportspeople fall under this. The Visas actually last from 15 days to 1 year and not longer (so you would have to get a Visa renewal every year at most)

It's somthing that I know very little about, it can be a quite obscure (but somewhat popular) profession to get into, particularly in Japan. I do know that one youtuber who J-vlogs and is also an MMA fighter (can't remember the name). But advice for zveiter would be is too train hard and get alot of experience in your own country, not alot of people make it big in MMA unless you have the hardwork and talent.

i kno that it is better, especially wanting a working visa, to seek employment from a japanese company prior to traveling to get their sponsorship, so:

1. any useful agencies or websites with loads of job postings available for expats to search and apply for? i found 1-2 good ones, but am suspicious of their...credibility i guess...they're just websites with vacancies listed, not an employment agency

2. any1 living or having spent time in japan ever seen an expat working as anything other than an english teacher? ie. barista, bartender, actor, model, waiting staff, secretary, voice-actor, sales assist. in shop??? entry to mid level jobs?

pls dnt badger me with posts like 'get a degree' or 'no!'...i've read so i kno...just looking for some helpful ans 2 my q's pls.

1. Never heard of an agency that handles foreigners.. they may exist though..
usually just sites that advertise jobs (some ads on this site sometimes)

2. Possible to get a visa to work as a barrister here.. but not likely to get visas for the others you mention.

From what I've heard, it may be possible to get visas for working as a model or barista, but you'd have to have 3-5+ years of experience under your belt unless you're really lucky. In general, Japanese people are preferred when they have the skills, so you would have to stand out. As such, modelling is really the only option, and only if you're really good looking.

You might have heard that due to bad domestic and international economic circumstances, jobs are becoming harder to get - in cases like these, foreigners are almost always the first to go. You'll need to be going for some sort of job that makes you stand out; a job that would require at least a few years of tertiary education.
