Do people get into political debates on Japanese forums like they do in America?
Are there Japanese equivalents to political talk shows?

Agreed with petina, I believe that few countries exist which can rival such an overblown sense of patriotism the Americans have.

Probably Nazi Germany is the only contender.

Oh, and Facist Italy. The British National Party are pretty patriotic too. The french ave the Front National too.

Is it just me, or is there a trend here with 'Patriotism' and certain political viewpoints?

You were born where you were born. Get over it already.

I think Japanese are patriotic about there culture.

Similar to the French, there are other cultures, but they have lousy food!

Joke aside, with an culture as old as the Japanese I think they are matured in a way that they take there culture as a given and normal while the USA is as an culture very young and everyithing is still "Ohhhhh SHINY! "

I think the USA will cool down in about 200 years too as soon there are no grandparents anymore who still remember how there grandparents talked about how dad went to dinner with an founding father...
