What about Christianity in Japan? As far as i know there is 1% of the Japanese people who are Christians.
Anyway compared to South Korea where 40% of the people are Christians Japan is still very attached to the old religions and traditions. Very conservative in my point of view? What do the rest think?

I don't know for sure but Japanese seem to keep the traditions without putting too much emotions in it. It's more like they are doing it just because it's normal.Maybe a part of the society's habits which everyone should follow...otherwise they would look odd if they don't make everything in the Japanese way. Who knows for sure...

I've always preferred the Eastern religions to things like Christianity and Judaism. They seem to be much more tolerant and nonjudgmental, to say the least. They don't encourage all these guilt-trips and promote something more along the lines of virtue ethics, rather than just doing the right thing out of fear of some sky-god, or being judgmental because "God says you're going to Hell if you don't repent."

Funny thing about it all is that the Eastern and South Asian religions seem to be much more "Christian" than much of what the Western Christians have done since they first "captured" Europe ideologically and politically until the Protestant Reformation began to reduce the ultraconservative stranglehold.
