Yes, but unless your commit yourself religiously it will not work. In the end, I find that immersion is the best method to learn any language.
I mean, self teaching isn't bad but it also gives you a false sense of security. You may think you know something, when you really don't. The truth of the matter is, you can never truly know if you *learned* a language until you put it into practice (and are able to express yourself in an understandable manner). This is simply impossible if you're doing a one man show. And even if you're really smart and happen to get some of it right, without constant usage you will quickly forget.
My suggestion for you would be to make a couple native Japanese speaking friends and practice with them. You'll learn faster plus it's free
