Yes, this former recruit (assuming he is in by now) used some questionable terms to describe women. And yes, his words portrayed a lacking of wisdom.

But, what do you expect from a 17 year old? He is a child from a country (my country) with severe educational and cultural dilemmas.

This is why we will restrict his ability to go off post. I can't imagine why we would give an unmarried private (airman) a housing allowance to live off post.

As to the comments on the term "chicks". I understand some people are offended by it. At the same time though it is not like there are not many of women who happily fit into that stereotype nor others that don't like the term but have proven that they are not well enough behaved to deserve better. Also, don't forget this recruit is young and logically interested in mating and in our culture the guys who respect women the least are the most successful at mating and the guys with the most respect are least successful.

As to jurisprudence, it depends on the treaty with the country. In most countries we 'occupy' we are subject to both local law and military law. Commanders may try hard to protect soldiers from punishment in cases that the crime is something that is not an offense (or not as extreme) by our country. (For example, the death penalty for drug possession). In most cases this will not happen though as we do care about our public image.

Stop trying to dissuade this kid. At least he is open to cultural exploration which our culture discourages. He is at an advantage in terms of a starting point to gain wisdom. Wisdom is gained by time and experience.
