I agree at some point but the first thing human sees is the outlook - the appearance, right?
No matter the race we all have some psychological thing for beautiful people. We usually think that if someone is well looking then he/she is a good person and the opposite. If someone is bad looking then we think that this person is probably bad.

Who would you want to come and talk to you - the creepy old and scary looking salaryman or a young boy around your age? Think about it. I think that the appearance is important when you make the first impression...after then comes the character.

As far as i know Japanese DO worship beauty in every way.

In Japan the food is kawaii...and beautifully looking, parks are beautiful, anime characters are cute, actresses and actors are beautiful,the mobile phones are cute and coverd in plastic desserts, photos are cute / Purikura/, nail art is cute and so on. The whole society worships kawaiines. Anyway I think that Japanese just LOVE kawaii things and beautiful people.
