I play poker for a living in Canada. It is almost accepted in Canada/USA as a trade or professional sport. There is a certain raised eyebrow because it still has that 'fringe' element to it. It is a little risque, not so much as being a pornstar or drug dealer but it definately lies in that "lawless" direction.
I want to visit Japan soon and i wonder if there is much stigma involved with a full-time gambler. I know in the old samurai movies the term gambler was synonomous with Yakuza. At least in the english subtitles. What's your take on this.
