Cost of Japan Holiday 15 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: -5
Maybe the most often asked question is how much will a holiday in Japan cost!

There are HUGE variations to the ways people like to experience Japan and the price varies accordingly but here is a rough guide:
(These estimates are in yen because the exchange rates change so often!!)

Airfare to Japan:
Japan Airlines is the international carrier. Compare their rates to other airlines which operate from your home country online to get the best price.

Accommodation:
Backpackers are rare but exist in the bigger cities.. from 2,000 yen/day
Hotels start from about 6,000 yen/day.
(See also our accommodation thread)

Food:
Possible to eat for as cheap as 2,000 yen/day

Transport:
Depends how much you travel and how far.
500 yen will get you from place to place on most subways.
15,000 yen will get you between most capital cities by train.

Admissions:
Most castles and places like that average about 500 yen.
Shrines and temples are usually free.

I could survive on $30 a day living in my apartment..
But visitors would be spending at least $30 at a ryokan, then they need to pay for food - say $20 a day minimum - and that is without going anywhere!

A trip in japan can get you up $4000-$9000 per week. That if you go out and spend on whatever that wish. But you can be wise about it.
