European to Japanese Power Adapter 12 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, i just landed in Osaka with my friend and we're goign to be staying for a little over a year, studying Japanese. And we'd like to know if anyone here knows a store that sells power adapters for European plugs.

We also tried withdrawing money with our Visa and Mastercard in ATMs but it didn't work, so if anyone knows one that does take these cards, we'd like to know.

We livei n Kire-Uriwari so the closer to there, the better.

You can find the adapters at a store at the airport.

You have to organize with your home country banks to use the ATMs.

Do this also apply even if a card is Mastercard / Visa?
Because i googled and fount something about the 7 eleven stores being international, but we just tried one, and it didn't work. Which i guess means that we have to talk to the bank.

Yea, we'll do that. Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Just to give an update incase anyone has a similar problem like we had.
We didn't have to contact our bank or anything, the problem was that we inserted the cards upside down. Even though the machine tells you tu insert it with the magnetic strip upwards, really, it should be downwards, with the chip and cardnumber upwards.
So yea, make sure you insert it correctly.

Sorensen Jimmy, Yes it is most important to insert things properly, regarding power adapter these can be a little dangerous as on two occasion whilst using (travelling) I find that because the power adapter are very loose internally, they can become hot therefore cause an electrical problem, shorting out,or trip auto fuse, perhaps this is because of the very loose nature of the internal structure of the adaptors, the fact that we travel extensively and they become loose or are poorly made, most electrical goods are cheap so if you are staying in Japan for long time then you may wish to change to Japan electrical device, forgo the adapter, better to be safe with electrical things.
