Hello everyone. Not sure if this would go in general but it doesn't seem to fit any other. I know that just from being a foreigner I'd get looked at, which is why I can't just base myself off of that. How are guys with long hair (long to mid-back) / metalheads seen in Japan? I know that there are a lot of metal fans but I've never seen any with such long hair so.. yeah.

Clean and tidy is the most important here.

Long hair can be OK if it is clean and tidy.. depending on what you will be doing here...
many companies would not employ you with long hair.. depending on the industry..

Regarding the employment situation it would depend on the employers dress standards,the work function that you would be performing,Most Westernised countries now have certain politically correct dress codes not only for safety but also for hygiene reasons,also basic uniform for particular job roles,which in Japan helps to recognise that person as a fellow employee also function that they are performing to general public.

I am sure every father or mother would have to ask on the parents inspection,educational standard hair tattoos or personal grooming or even sexual orientation,would I like this person to date my Daughter or Son,in almost every culture the answer would be the same a resounding NO,
Metal-heads or not there is a very large difference when joining an extended family in a marriage situation,under normal situations without culture clash this can be most difficult,let alone a multi-cultural relationship.

Aw, so much stereotype against metalheads all over the world.. Oh well, it'S not like I need long hair to live haha, thanks!
