Hello everyone,

I've been following the YT channel for quite some time and I'm loving it, great job!

Now I have a question: I'd love to learn more about the history of Japan, but I don't have the time to really study at the moment. I'd rather read some historical books that aren't too detailed, so I get an idea about the history/culture etc of Japan.

So does anyone know some English-written books that are educational but not too extensive?

I have one on the history, but it's a little over 400 pages. It's called "A History of Japan" and it was put together by R.H.P. Mason and J.G. Caiger - I have the 1997 revised edition (ISBN 978-0-8048-2097-4). Anyway, hopefully that's just a start to the list.

I found a book at my local bookstore called Otaku Encyclopedia.Written by Patrick Galbraith and published by Kodansha which provides an overview of anime and manga fandom topics,interviews and profiles of important people in Japanese fandom.
