I was wondering what is the deferens between:

Domo arigato,
Domo,
Arigato and
Arigato gozeimas.

Is for example domo slang
/short for domo arigato or do they have different meaning?

Basically in simple terms the difference is 'politeness'.

Domo = 'Thanks'
Domo Arigatou = 'Thank you'
Domo Arigatou Gozaimasu = 'Thank you very much'

On a day to day basis, if you interacted with strangers in Japan you would use 'Domo Arigatou Gozaimasu' or 'Domo Arigatou' as it more polite. Just 'Domo' would be somthing more to use with people you are close with.

Yes, that helped me a lot.

But if for example a waitress brings you the food in a resturant , what should you say? Arigato Gozaimas ?

You expect the waitress to bring you the food since you are in a restaurant, and the waitress is of "lower status" in the restaurant because you are the customer.

Please tell me your opinion on that

Well somthing like that comes down to each individual, whether if they want to say it or not. Arigatou Gozaimasu would be appropriate to use in that situation. As regards, actually saying it, yes I would. It's only manners and it costs you nothing

People can take what they want from the gesture but you lose nothing by saying it.

And.. is the waitress "lower status" than you?
You are a foreigner and a guest in Japan..
