Hi!
I'm new here and found this website and the videos on youtube very interesting and useful! ^^ I'm actually studying Japanese at the moment and will be leaving soon to go to Japan for a study year abroad.
I was just wondering about getting a mobile phone in Japan. How would I go about getting one? I know there are contracts and pre-paid cards, I'm not sure if pre-paid cards and pay as you go are the same thing? I looked around a few websites that my Japanese uni has given me but it seems that contacts are 2 years long, but I will be there for only 1 year. Also how much do phones roughly cost? I've heard from a friend that when you get a contract you will have to pay for the phone as well. (I live in the UK and we get the phones free and just pay the monthly contract bill) I was also thinking maybe getting a second hand phone, so I would only need to get a Sim card, would that be cheaper?
Any information you know would be very helpful! Thank you
(Edit: I hope i've put this in the right section! I wasn't sure, if it's wrong, feel free to move it! ^^; )
