In America among friends, it is quite common to curse, make fun of, and laugh at others misfortunes. I suppose I don't really need to laugh at others and usually don't anyways, and could stop making fun of folks quit easily, but cursing was a good stress relief and almost was a gesture of how much you trusted/liked your friends. I was curious as to how it was perceived in Japan.

Behaving like that does not impress people in any country, I don't think. Even less so in Japan.
