teaching english as a non native speaker 12 Years ago Karma: 0
Hello forum, in the near future i would like to be an English teacher. Next year I'm starting to get my bachelor degree in English. First i would teach English in my home country for a couple of years so i can take evening classes Japanese and after that i would like to teach in Japan. But when I look on the internet almost all of the requirements say you need to be a native speaker. My question now is if it's possible for a non native speaker to teach English in Japan?

Yes, it is.
Not quite as easy to get a job as an English teacher in Japan if you are not a native English speaker.. but it is VERY possible.

I have met MANY people who speak English as a second language and who teach English in Japan.
