Greetings all! I recently ran across a gentleman packing a tenkara fishing rod while tromping my way through the Sierra Nevada's here in Central California (USA). It's a lightweight telescoping, reelless Japanese rod that's used like a traditional fly rod. It's a pretty cool bit of fishing tackle. I only wish that I had known about them before my last visit to Japan so that I could have checked them out. It makes me wonder what other uniquely Japanese fishing gear I may have missed. If anyone happens to have some experience with tenkara rods or know of some other Japanese fishing secrets, I'd love to hear about them.
