where to stay when first move? 13 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
hi everyone

this might sound silly but where do you stay when you first come to japan before you get a alien registration card and actually get an apartment, i plan to get a ADL teaching job but they say I have to look after my own apartment, so it would take time to find a place to live, get a alien registration card etc, so my question is, other people come to japan, where do they stay???

You could stay in a hostel, hotel, guesthouse etc. You can get apartments as well, if you check out the Sakura-house website (usually advertised on this site) it should have what you are looking for. They cater for short to long term stays

If you stay in a gaigin house you not only have access to cheap clean accommodation but the combined resources and experience of all the other foreigners new to Japan.

I stayed in one for 3 months when I first arrived in Tokyo. I learned where to get cheap food, places to see, immigration hints, and job hunting help.

Suggest K's House also in Osaka, Kyoto and Nara

Isn't it possible to get all the necessary documentation in order before getting an apartment? Personally I believe it would be annoying if you had to move again into your actual apartment where you intend to live in for several years....
