I see..

But does your school have a connection with Japan?
Your teacher or your teacher's teacher must have learned from someone Japanese right?

If you can find out who the Japanese connection is it will give you a better chance to learn here.

The master of my Dojo is Stephen K Hayes and he trained directly under Hatsumi Masaaki. The problem is he is hardly ever at the dojo because he is called all around for talks and interviews. I was told by the "second in command" that I should be careful because some of Hatsumi's students do not like my master. But was told that Hatsumi himself was very kind but of course a strict teacher

Hmmmmmmm

Very difficult to get teachers in Japan to agree to teach you without an introduction from your teacher and some sort of connection..
I am assuming your Japanese is very good too?

Not very good now but by trhe time I go I will have it down. I have taken a few classes and plan on studying my own plus I need to learn more kanji then I already know. My great aunt is Japanese and lives in the states and she can help me with that as well as make sure I say the correct thing. And I will have to ask my Master about the letter of introduction and see if it is something he would give us to give him. I am not a high rank about halfway to black belt so it may be difficult but we shall see
