Lots of dojo... but finding a teacher prepared to teach you for just a few weeks will be the biggest challenge...

I studied Yoshinkan Aikido while I was staying in Toronto with my sister last year and now I would like to go to Japan and study at the honbu dojo in Tokyo.

Has anyone else studied at the Yoshinkan dojo in Tokyo? Do you have any tips for me?

Aikido is my favorite budo

You will need an introduction from your teacher in Toronto or from a member in Japan.

A pretty good level of Japanese will be essential too.

What visa will you be coming with?

It's more in the dream stage right now, so I don't really have a solid plan. I read that I would need a letter of recommendation. It's been a year since I trained. I live in a small rural town in the southern US and I don't have a dojo here, so I've been thinking about moving to another city (probably New York, although I'm not sure) to study for awhile before going to Japan, 'cause I probably won't be able to qualify for a work visa and that way I can save up some money. I'm also thinking about doing the Senshusei program and maybe becoming a teacher. So, like I said, still weighing my options and just trying to find out more about it at this juncture.

I got to practice allot of sports martial arts too (Karate,Judo some kendo ... but im hoping to practice kenjutsu because i feel it is a way of life not a sport what you learn you use every day.
