Hello, nice to meet you. I'm new to this forum, but I've seen a lot of videos from TheJapanChannel on YouTube, and was really impressed and grateful to the author of those quality pieces of Japanese life. This forum proves to be very interesting and informative too, so thanks to all of the users who leave questions and comments here. I've never been to Japan, I'm considering a visit someday, but anyway I'm really interested in many aspects of Japanese culture, because it's kind of kawaii, kakkoii and fushigi, if you know what I mean.

So my question here is addressed for the people who are aquainted with Japanese culture, and the way Japanese people behave. It's about jokes and humour. Not that kind of humour you get on Japanese TV or shows, but a common practical humour. Maybe jokes which can pop up during a normal conversation between friends, or maybe some situations which can be considered funny by Japanese. Are there any of those? What are they like? Where does the crossing line between funny things and rude things lies?

Thank you.

Play on words... words with double meanings.

e.g. Insect lands in a hot coffee and someone says:
"mushi atsui".
That is a simple example.. often others involve a knowledge of kanji.

Works on TV..
But if you are thinking about coming here and being funny.. I wouldn't try it..
Better off just being quiet and observant and blending in as much as possible..
