OK.. another one I hear all the time and just heard it again...

If someone has a win in a competition or gamble they say "GET!".
On TV they will flash it on the screen during such times...
If anything, maybe it should be "GOT!"

But, then again.......

By the way, we also have another site that has Japan English examples on it (T-Shirts and signs and so on):

Another is sports and Japanese sports presenters..
for some strange reason they use English expressions in amongst their Japanese commentary!
For example:
"Good shot desu!"
"Strike two desu!"
"Nice catch desu!"

Of course there is Japanese words with the same meaning so I dont quite get why they do it but when they do it and then add the "desu" it tickles me

and "double pray desu"

How about the "saralyman"
(I saw Craig talk about that in another thread too and talking about how sexist it is - and so it is, but interesting also!)

Most of the use of English (T-Shirts, radio TV etc) seems to be more about being cool than actually communicating..
An example is radio..
The DJ's pepper there dialogue with English words but not when they have anything important to communicate.
"Top 10..."
"Stay in tune.." (heard that!)
and stuff like that seems to be thrown around but when they really want to say anything that they want listeners to understand they speak Japanese.
(Most of my Japanese friends tell me they dont understand ANY of the English they hear on the radio!)

"The group", whether it be group of friends, workmates, sports team, town, state, country or any group of 3 more more is so important to Japanese people.
As a result of this thinking we hear the word "memba" (member) used ALL THE TIME!
Sometimes it is used in the same way that it is used in English but often not.
There is obviously a word in Japanese for "member" but they love this English word and use it liberally!!
