Sadou (Tea ceremony) 16 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 22
The tradional art of the Japanese tea ceremony and those who practice it are held in high esteem in Japan.
It has been and is practiced by a wide range of people and in the past was practiced by samurai including the famous Miyamoto Musashi and daimyo and shogun.
If you have any questions or comments about sadou please post them here...

hello my name is ever calix,i myself have a question about the beauty of the tea ceremony.my question is, what r the responsibility of the person who joins the tea ceremony or in respectful terms what are the rule the participator must abide to I'm willing to join if i knew since i really trying to go to one but that will be a day when finacially ready T_T.

As a child i always was and still fascinated with the culture of japan.not by the media since the media was not what introduced me to japan like Anime or Manga but can't deny the fact that when i got older that increased my interest, but the interest was more caused of a special person to me who use too take care of me when i was a child till i hit 6 years old and she always told me about japan and she opened my eyes in appreciating the people of japan and i gratefully still respect them.
even though my family are really weird with japan but i don't care and I'm Hispanic and a guy but im unique and i just appreciate everything.

sorry no introduction thread in forum.

One of those subjects that is better learned by watching, I think

I don't know much but I know that:

The tea ceremony is for the guests so we should look relaxed and like we are enjoying it.. but in a quiet and respectful way.
We should watch everything carefully and appreciatively..
We should admire the cup upon accepting it.
There is turning of the cups and wiping of the rims and appreciation of the tea.

It is complex

yea that's awesome and really unique since in my understanding japan is really a place of discipline and respect and honor. In which myself was brought up and again i was really influenced in japan a lot from a good person.
right now I'm trying to learn Japanese language and writing system but its hard but not hard i just need to find a place to really learn and think.

other question ? in a tea ceremony what are the rules of the tea provider ? like what she needs to do in order, when preparing the tea and giving it to the guest.

please correct me if I'm wrong because it is only the female who do the tea ceremony but guys can too?
