Tokyo 13 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

In March I will be arriving in Japan for about 23 days. I spend a portion of that time in Tokyo. Now, this isnt the typical thread of what to see. This will be my second time in Japan, and in Tokyo.

What I am wondering is some sites that may not be on the radar for most tourists. I've seen the shibuya, shinjuku, etc, and I will revisit them. But, what about other sites that may not be as well known, but, still essential.

Also, the giant gundam statues, it's gone now isnt it?

Thanks!

My suggestion.. get out of Tokyo.

Even Japanese people consider Tokyo to be different to the rest of Japan..

I have been there 6-7 times and am never impressed.. I hate Shinjuku and all the other gaijin holes too

If you only have limited time, get out of Tokyo and see some REAL Japan!!
(Just my suggestion )

Oh, the majority of my time is outside of Tokyo. I have to wait a few days for a friend to join me. And then at the end of my vacation I am there.

So, I have time in Tokyo. I dont mind, I enjoy Tokyo..

And, I'm all over the place after that..

true that! if you love to venture..get out of tokyo. But shopping is mostly there like asakusa, shinjuku, idabashi, harajuku and etc.

Japan is rich with cultures...It's better to check what festive they are having during the month then go to the specific prefectures and watch their celebrations.

I would like to go to Kyoto & Okinawa. I've been told by the government there are many traditional sight scene places. Each prefectures have their own unique festives & other stuffs. Northern part (Akita-ken) is more like plains & rice field. But is good place to visit!

Yup, was taken down late 2009/early 2010. To be honest, never stayed that much in Tokyo when I was there so cant really recommend alot of places, there are the Imperial Gardens to visit though (I can't remember exactly where in Tokyo) and there is the Temples in Asakusa.

IF you wanted to, you could get a Bus to Mt.Fuji? (well the surrounding area). You could kill time and maybe visit somewhere you haven't yet? It only takes about 2 hours there and another 2 hours back by bus from Shinjuku bus station. You could even spend the night there in K-House Hostel like I did. It's a really nice area to have a wander around in

There was a time when you could actually see full size Gundam suits in Japan? Why did they decide to take them down? I'm a huge Anime/Manga fan and would of enjoyed seeing them during my trip to Japan. I'm assuming that they have other shrines dedicated to Anime somewhere in Japan? I will be there in April and I was wondering if someone could tell me about some any Anime/Manga events or conventions I could attend around Japan?
