Japanese listening practice Anime 14 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
in sweden where I grew up, we have english as a second language at school. but most of the english I know today didn't come from school, but from the TV.
60% of the stuff they show on swedish TV is in english (most of it from the US) with subtitles.

Question: are there any japanese movies or animes with an easy level of japanese in it, that would be good for practice japanese understanding at a beginner level?

Try anime in Japanese with English subtitles...

Real lessons with a Japanese person is always the best way though.. as you would know.

Anime is how I first started learning a bit of Japanese. It is helpful to hear the pronunciations and you do pick up some vocabulary, but without lessons in grammar it is hard to string a sentence together. If you really want to speak the language, take some kind of course or lesson.

Depending on which language subtitles you want, certain shows may not be available to you. I do not know about Swedish, but there is a wide variety of shows and movies subbed in english. As for the level, I do not know.

I have eaten many animes with my eyes already, and learned alot about the language. but I doubt it were any easy level of japanese in those animes.

I have also started learning japanese from this audio -book course "pimleurs japanese I,II,III".
And I am planning on taking a japanese language course soon enough.

but I need me some good japanese movies or anime to watch meanwhile.

so any good tips on something even a 4 year old japanese would understand?

Hmm... Try watching Heartcatch Precure! (anime series, but beware the cuteness) and some Ghibli films such as Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, or Ponyo. I do not know anything else that would be considered that level.

I recommend that you watch regular anime series with subtitles too, because even with no knowledge of the language, if you listen along with the words it will make sense over time.

For quality of subtitles for watching an Anime i would go with a Ghibli movie like Sorachan suggested (or anything that has been professionally published, like DVD's in a store) as you can assume that the quality of the Subtitles are very good considering it has been marketed for sale.

For learning Japanese, actual lessons are best. But immersing yourself by watching Anime, Japanese movies is good for providing learning in how to hear and pronounce Japanese

Strength is the product of struggle, you must do what others don't to achieve what others won't
