Hi Mike (another Michael here )

In some ways it can be quite hard to learn and study new languages by yourself, If you don't have the right structured material to do so.

I always recommend classes, if possible, do you know of any Japanese Language classes in your area? I honestly truely think that learning in a class is the best way forward particularly for beginners, as because mentioned above classes will give some sort of structure of learning (advanced language users would find it easier to learn/study by themselves).

If you are not sure, check google if any classes are in your area. Check if any of the schools or colleges do any evening or part time classes in Japanese Language. If there are it would be a big plus if the teacher was a native Japanese person as well.

All the best.

Michael
