Well, I've been becoming more and more intrigued about Japan, increasing about the same rate as my desire to move away from North America. So there are a few things I would like to know.

How easy is it to find a job?

What work hours are considered normal?

What is the cost of living?

How are foreigners treated or viewed?

What resources are available for adults to learn Japanese? (spoken as well as its written forms)

What is the general rate of violent crimes?

Ok, sorry for seeming like an idiot who's too lazy to look around. I just thought I'd ask questions in addition to compiling miscellaneous hints and tips in a single thread about living in Japan for someone who's never even visited.
