Hey, had a question, and I am a huge fan of TheJapanChannelDcom, so I figured I would make an account to ask something on here. I was wondering, since I do this here in America, if it would be acceptable in Japan if I was asked to join a group out and go eat or something (as I saw in many of TheJapanChannel's videos that it would be impolite to not join in) to not eat, or just eat a little. It is not because I am not wanting to spend money or enjoy myself with friends, I am simply very nervous when eating in front of people. My friends here understand it, and are ok with it, and one of these friends is planning on moving to Japan with me. I was also wondering if it is acceptable to take the liberty of paying for other people's food. I assume in some situations it would likely be ok, and I would probably get objections if I myself didn't even order much more than water, so I was just wondering if I could get some experienced Japan adventurers take on this

just eat real slowly..
but keep saying how tasty it is

... and maybe tell them you already ate
