Unviversal cultural reality 13 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Preface: I am exmilitary..i have literally been around the world 2x..experienced the good and bad of many cultures. Concerning japan i was stationed their for little under 4 years in Yokosuka and was fortunate enough to meet peole who would show me things that frankly I dont think i would have seen under normal circumstance.

Realty as i see it: I have been slowly watching the various videos and looking at the comments etc. Why is it that people are still so arrogant in thinking that their views on a culture are "right" when i would bet that they have not left thier homecountry much less hometown. Why do people insist that they "know what they are talking about" when all they have is at best 2nd to 3rd hand information on a subject . If your NOT going to really experience a culture first hand at least do the proper research on it. Look for at least 3-5 source of material andview it all with an unemotional and self critical eye for information. Im sorry if this is a "rant" but i am really SICK of people comeing off as experts on something when in reality they are clueless lemmings listening to ignorant "experts" rather than seeing and exploreing things for themselves.
My apolgies to all for this and my gratitude for your indulgence.

I guess that's just human nature. And I absolutely agree, different culture doesn't mean better culture.

Most people when they come across something different, tend to associate it with something they're familiar with. And when given a choice between something familiar and something unfamiliar, it's obvious that the something "familiar" will always be better (From that person's perspective). Hence the vicious cycle of arrogance is formed
