I wonder about the opposite.
I ve experienced it again and again that Japanese (esp. young) women are really obsessed with their weight and being skinny.
It seems to be a " trend" lately in all industrialized countries but due to their staple diet and genetic factors the majority is already really slim- but still they get encouraged through advertisment/media in general to loose weight.
Is it considered to be cute being as skinny as possible?
Are anorexia/eating disorders there a taboo topic like other mental disorders?
Are there any specialized clinics for people to recover from this illness?
