Japan's country, Japan's way. This is what works for them, nobody from another country has to agree with it, or live there if they are not comfortable with it.

If someone came to the USA to live here from Japan, I'd automatically expect them to learn English and eat with a fork.

On that same token of mutual respect, if I were to go to Japan and live there with my family, it's reasonable to expect that my children would go to the school there and follow the rules and traditions set there by Japanese culture and their educational system.
