Just a few personal observations that are entailed in the post i would also like to share:
- If you are finding it hard to get money out of bank machines using your bank card. I found that the 7/11 convienience stores and Citibank(?) banks were good for taking out money. This was with my Maestro Laser debit card but other cards were accepted. (some post offices were good too). I never had a problem getting out alot of money that i needed either ( depends on how much is too much for each individual though
)
- Regarding Medicine, be aware that Japan has strict laws regarding this. Normal over the counter medicines in your own country like solpadeine are actually persciption only drugs in Japan. If you have a perscription for medicine you need it will be fine. You can check online for further information regarding this.
- Although not regarding medicine, i advise not to bring meat based snacks like Beef Jerky etc with you. You can't bring them with you into the country. You can however buy jerky in many convienience stores in Japan.
- Id suggest bringing as much personal toiletries as much as you can. Things like deodorant are quite expensive in Japan and quite small in size. Don't go mad overloading yourself with toiletries but just bring enough with you.
And i agree, keep an open mind and enjoy the experience
