I didn't really see and specific answers to this sort of thing so I have a few questions,

I'm interested in becoming an English teacher in Japan, more specifically and hopefully for Juku.I have done some research on it, and I've seen a lot of negative feedback on them more so then regular high schools or elementary schools. However, I don't particularly see why...

I know that a BA seems to be required for the working visa to get into Japan and teach English, as well as most of the agencies which help foreigners get assigned and what not pick a designation for you.
I have been abroad to Japan before for almost a year, so I have a decent idea of how things work, and I would love to go back to an area I am familiar with rather than one based on random.
Is there a way around picking your own designation with an agency, or would this have to be done myself with no agency help at all?

Also,I was planning on attending a college rather than university, however now that a BA is required, I'm afraid I would be wasting money by attending a university I don't want to and the possibility of me not liking the idea of teaching and wasting time/money at the same time.
Is there an alternative to this?

sorry for the long post!

Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone has any useful tips or advice in job hunting to become an English teacher in Japan? I would be okay to move anywhere. The biggest problem I have encountered so far is that I am a non-native speaker, I have a BA and just finishing my CELTA in Oxford, have no experience.
Would appreciate any tips and so on.
Thanks
