Hello guys,
I have watched your videos for quite a while and they have really helped me receive a more realistic view of Japan. They are always informative and detailed. Also kudos to the unskilled laborer for the amazing renovation videos. I know that you would be the right people to ask about a very important choice that I must make. I am a university student in Ireland that is going on a coop (6 month employment) to Japan as a part of my degree. Now I am Bulgarian and thus the conditions for me finding a job in Japan (after uni) are much more difficult. For example JET and INTERACT would not be an option for me. It would not be impossible, of course, just very, very difficult. That aside the university has connections with 2 different companies that would guarantee us positions. I am still pondering on which one to choose though. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind giving me your opinion on the matter. As a more experienced look would be highly appreciated.
The first job is with a highly known hotel chain: Toyoko inn. The position is located in Tokyo as a receptionist, and the salary is 160.000 yen PM. 5 working days Benefits: possibility for employment after uni, significant improvement of Japanese and keigo.
Second position is as a English teacher, 200.000 yen PM, Nagoya/Osaka/Tokyo, 3-4 days per week. Benefits: higher salary and more time to explore Japan.
As you can see both positions are good. I guess my main concern in that the receptionist salary is quite low especially for Tokyo and I do not know if it would improve should I get another job opportunity after graduation. I know that the teaching salary that is offered is pretty much the standard salary. Is there anyone that you could inquire as to what is normal income for a receptionist in Japan? Or just your opinion on the matter would be more than enough. Thank you very much.
Kind Regards
Raya
