Hello, I am new on here but have been watching the many videos on youtube, which have been very helpful.
I've applied via Interac to become a teacher. In fact i have been doing my TEFL course with i-to-i.com here in the UK - its 120hrs costing ?350
By doing the TEFL course with i-to-i they guaranteed a reserved place with Interac (providing i pass the interview and course etc)
So far I have done the main 40hrs and im working through extra certificates and will finish doing a 20hrs intensive weekend course.
Now most places offer courses like this but you need to look at how long they have been established, who they are credited by and what other people think of them - i would not advise going with someone who is primarily a gapyear website
With interac you first fill in an online application, then if successful you have a phone interview lasting 15mins, then if your successful again you are invited to an interview in your own country. The final stage is them collecting all your paperwork before making a final decision.
Most jobs like this are a min of 12months (normally starting in March) although some companies, like i-to-i, offer start dates throughout the year BUT there are less places at these points.
All teaching jobs (if they are proper ones) require a degree and TEFL/TESOL with preferably some experience in teaching (my advice is volunteer for a youth group) - Dont forget though that even if you dont like it in Japan there are also many other places to teach
