model/actress in Japan. is it possible? 14 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
I'm 16 years old and I've always dreamed of living in Japan.. I study Japanese, so i think by the time i graduate i'll know it really good. I was wondering is it possible to become Model/Actress in Japan if you're a foreigner?

I don't know about models, but sometimes I see foreigners in commercials. Though you can probably find out about jobs like that from GaijinPot.

It is possible you can get modelling contracts in Japan. It's one of the more 'popular' work choices for those who are either on working holiday visa or studying in college.

If you are doing modelling already it might help you in getting work, experience and having references is always a plus.

If you planned on making a long term career out of it in Japan.... i don't think it would really work out.

Regarding being an Actress, it's possible but i would say very tough gig to get into and again no possibility of it working out being a long term career. Again Acting or working on commercials would be easier to get if you already do this work or work for an agency.

Well if you have had the experience before, it means that you do have experience and you also have a portfolio of pictures? If you still have good relations with your agency you can always contact them again to find about about agencys in Japan (they might not be able to help but never know until you ask).

If you do work as a model the visa will fall under "Entertainer" and the visa durations range from:
- 15 days
- 3 months
- 6 months
- 1 year

The duration of your visa id imagine out of the above depends on the contract you will be working with. Once this Visa expires you need to either renew it (and get a new working contract) or you will have to leave.

When i mean long term i meant many years, how long do you think you would like to spend in Japan? If you get enough contracts to keep renewing it could be possible for as long as you keep getting work. But id say applying for Permanent Residency will be very tough.
